Colors do not exist. Yellow, orange, red, violet, blue or green are nothing more than a product of our mind. They are a sensation and a personal interpretation of colliding light waves. Your red is not my red. However, it is almost impossible to conceive our daily universe without them.
Kandinsky said that color is a means to exert a direct influence on the soul. Color is the key. The eye, the hammer. The soul is the piano with many strings. Just as each spoken word (tree, sky, man) causes an inner vibration, every object represented in an image causes an inner vibration. However, the tones of colors, like those of music, are more nuanced in nature, they awaken much finer emotional vibrations than those we can express with words. Each tone will eventually find its expression in the material word, but there will always remain a residue, not expressed by it, which is nothing other than its own essence.
And it is right there, where that universal connection between color and emotions is located, which is what Luis Marín, a Colombian photographer, who has lived in Barcelona for 14 years, has been interested in exploring.
His work initially starts from a very street photography aesthetic, but little by little, his creative process has been distilling pollution and noise, leading to the visual deconstruction of forms, freeing color from its objective context, turning it in a protagonist in himself, free to resonate with our psyche, without the need to ask the viewer for any prior knowledge, or a rational approach, simply to contemplate and let himself go.

Los colores no existen. El amarillo, el naranja, el rojo, el violeta, el azul ó el verde, no son más que un producto de nuestra mente. Son una sensación y una interpretación personal de las ondas de luz en colisión. Tu rojo no es mi rojo. Sin embargo, resulta casi imposible concebir nuestro universo cotidiano sin ellos.
Kandinsky decía que el color es un medio para ejercer una influencia directa sobre el alma. El color es la tecla. El ojo, el macillo. El alma es el piano con muchas cuerdas. Así como cada palabra pronunciada (árbol, cielo, hombre) provoca una vibración interior, todo objeto representado en imagen provoca una vibración interior. No obstante, los tonos de los colores, al igual que los de la música, son de naturaleza más matizada, despiertan vibraciones anímicas mucho más finas que las que podemos expresar con palabras. Cada tono encontrará con el tiempo su expresión en la palabra material, pero siempre quedará un residuo, no expresado por ella, que no es otra cosa más que su propia esencia.
Y es justo ahí, dónde se sitúa esa conexión universal que hay entre el color y las emociones, que es lo que le ha interesado explorar a Luis Marín, fotógrafo Colombiano, radicado hace 14 años en Barcelona.
Su obra parte inicialmente de una estética muy de fotografía de calle, pero poco a poco, su proceso creativo ha ido destilando la contaminación y el ruido, llevándolo a la de-construcción visual de las formas, liberando el color de su contexto objetivo, convirtiéndolo en un protagonista en si mismo, libre de resonar con nuestra psique, sin necesidad de pedirle al espectador ningún conocimiento previo, ni una aproximación racional, simplemente que contemple y se deje llevar.
